推進器的等級與評級雖然會影響飛船的機動性如翻滾（Roll）、拉高（Pitch）與偏轉（YAW）的速度，但是否影響加速性能則尚且不明。

除了一般推進器之外，在Deciat星系的FarseerInc.地面站，Maia星系的Palin研究中心和Khun星系的LongSightBase等工程師工坊中，也有販賣特殊的增強型推進器（EnhancedPerformanceThruster）。

但此部件僅有2A和3A規格，因此限制了可安裝的飛船。

一些飛船由於逆噴口無法高效率地抵消主推進器的推力（如AspExplorer），因此駕駛時須要特別注意別面相物體並高速前進甚至打開後燃器。

相反的，有著強力逆噴口的飛船（如Mamba）可讓其直接退後行進，使其所有的武器掛點可攻擊追擊來的敵人，甚至可急停，讓追擊者反應不及超過自身飛船後追擊。

橫向噴口（Lateral）是在飛船側面，使其可側移的姿態噴口。

除了負責飛船的偏轉（YAW）外，在放下起落架後的功效亦頗大。

若飛船的橫向噴口推理足夠，甚至無須翻滾（Roll）或拉高（Pitch）便可迅速背向其行進方向。

但大多只有敏捷的小型戰鬥船可做到這點。

上下噴口（Dorsal和Ventral，其實應為『機脊』和『機腹』噴口，但為明顯説明其位置而如此翻譯）是位於飛船頂部和底部的推進器，主要用來控制飛船的翻滾（Roll）和拉升降低（Pitch）。

這對飛船的機動性、尤其是戰鬥中起了關鍵作用。

在地表附近時，飛船底部的噴口使之可滯空飛行，推力不足的底部噴口會讓地表的降落過程更加困難且危險（尤其是在高重力星球）。

謬誤一般認爲放下起落架後，飛船可迅速減速的原因是因爲『空氣阻力』，但其實是因爲主推進器的推力被轉移到姿態噴口上了。

不論哪個等級或評級的推進器都可以讓飛船安然從高重力星球起飛並離開，前提是用對了方法。
